FAQ - Service of Process

Below are answers to questions that we most often hear.

Q. How do I know if you offer process serves at the location where my defendant lives.

A.

We serve anywhere within Hood County and surrounding counties of: Bosque, Erath, Johnson, Parker, Somervell and Tarrant. Locations outside of a 25 mile radius (50m travel distance to Granbury center (50m travel distance) but within one of the adjacent counties require addition of the  "Extended Distance" option at an additional cost of $10/extra 10miles.

Q. How much will a process serve cost?

A.

The charge for serves to defendant addresses located within our default service area is: $85(Std), $135(Rush), or $185(Same-day) - depending on urgency as selected by the client. An extra charge of $10/10miles is required for serving to addresses in counties adjacent to Hood but outside of our 25 mile max location radius boundary. In certain cases clients may also choose to add-on an option for extra wait time; this is at an additional charge of $40/h, billed in 15 minute intervals 4h max.

Q. If I wish to serve 2 different defendants where they are both living at the same
address do I get a discount on the 2nd order?

A.

No, the cost for a Service of Process is per dependent, per address, and per case. Each serve is individually ordered.

Q. The document I need served is more than 30 pages long - what will this cost?

A.

For all serve types, first 30 pages are printed free, subsequent pages are printed with an additional charge of $0.10 /page.

Q. What if I have multiple legal documents to be served to the same addressee?

A.

If the documents are to be individually served there is an additional $10 fee.

Q. How do I keep track of how my ordered process serve is going?

A.

Select the option for tracking updates when you place your order. We will automatically notify you by text notifications on the outcome of each serve attempt as the attempts are conducted.

Q. Why do I need to email my documents vs having a member account and uploading?

A.

We are working on that feature, there are specific privacy issues to address.

Q. Do I get a refund if I cancel a in progress Service of Process order?

A.

If no serve attempts have been performed you will receive a full refund. If 1 to 2 serve attempts have been performed you will receive a 20% discount. All other cases - no refund. The new address will be considered a new serve.

You do have the option of using any remaining serve attempts from the first order on the second order. Please keep in mind that this may mean you will not necessarily have the number of serves and days served required by the court at a single address in the case the addressee can not be served.

Q. Am I able to order additional attempts for serves?

A.

Yes, each additional attempt over the default max is $35.

Q. Will you just post the documents on the door?

A.

Yes, documents are posted on the door within 24 hours for a fee of $45.
